“They’ll even bring pizza to edge of the pool” Iron Mtn. Springs makes a splash.
It’s a place where time stands still, where the roar of the Colorado river plays a soundtrack to 16 steamy mineral pools.
They’ll even bring pizza to the edge of the pool if you ask for it,” One of the first soaker's at the Grand Opening of Glenwood Spring's newest attraction: Iron Mountain Hot Springs Larry Carver said.
With food and alcohol options, Carver said this might just be his idea of heaven.
“It’s all good,” Larry said with a smile as he soaked in the, Motherload thermal mineral pool.
“Spoken like a true guy sitting in a pool,” I joked with Carver.
“Exactly, you can’t beat anything than hot mineral water,” Carver said.
Co-founder Steve Beckley also owns the Glenwood Caverns.
“It’s nerve-racking as you are building and thinking is this going to work? Every pool is different, they have a different shape and different temperatures,” Beckley said.
In addition, all pool water is turned over every 90 minutes fresh from the spring.
“The cool thing is this water came from fresh from the spring, like three minutes ago,” Beckley said.
Co-founder Mogli Cooper was excited to see it all come together after breaking ground last year.
“You know after all the sweat that went into over the last couple years, we are so excited that the end product turned out this wonderful and that people enjoy it. They will come in with the biggest grin and they will say, ‘ah, this is awesome.’ Everything looks really natural, you don’t feel like you’re in an unnatural environment,” Cooper said.
With an additional family friendly pool, there is something for everyone.
“There is a big freshwater pool and then, the jetted spa is more for the families and the kids. And then the 16 mineral pools along the Colorado River are more for the adults. It’s a quiet area. It’s more for relaxing, sitting in the pools, watching theColorado River go by or watching the stars,” Beckley said.
“We have two pools that have six inches of gravel to massage your feet, then we have twoInfinity pools that you can look down the river,” Cooper said.
“It compliments the other hot springs and I think it’s a great addition to the whole town,” Beckley said.
So Steve, you have Iron Mountain Springs and the Glenwood Caverns…What’s next?
“Maybe, a vacation,” Beckley said. More info about Iron Mtn Springs here.
